Amazon have bowed to pressure to make their AWS training and certifications more accessible for busy professionals by making the AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner Exam available to take in the comfort of your own home or office, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
So what developments have allowed them to take this step forward?
Amazon Uses Webcams to Proctor Home or Office-Based Exams
Amazon now uses webcam invigilation in order to deliver the exam online, meaning this once test-center-based exam can be taken from almost anywhere. However, it should still be noted that candidates will still need a quiet, private location with a stable internet connection in order to take the exam.
AWS students can schedule an exam at any time of the day, with exam appointments available on the hour, and every 15 minutes thereafter. It also makes sense for candidates to run a system test before taking the exam; ensuring that the network and computer being used can securely deliver the exam.
It’s also worth noting that the take-anywhere version of the exam is only available in English at this moment in time.
Why the Change of Accessibility?
AWS certifications have long been some of the most popular professional development qualifications in the IT skills sector. In fact, the AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner certification has entered into the top 5 for professional credentials taken globally, with a wide range of job titles (including CEO) taking the exam.
However, many complained about the need to attend an accredited test center with limited appointment slots available, with waiting times running into weeks in some locations. The change in format eradicates this problem, and opens up the certification to a larger audience.
How Can You Prepare AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner Exam?
Whilst Amazon themselves provide a free exam guide, the best way to prepare for the exam is by taking practice exams and working on practice questions.
IaaS Academy provides a fully comprehensive course that includes over 12 hours of lectures covering exam materials. What’s more, you have access hands-on labs and practical exercises so that you can put your newly-acquired knowledge to the test before taking a practice exam.
Once you’ve completed the course, you can then take an AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner practice exam on Udemy to see how you perform under the pressure of an exam situation.
So what are you waiting for? Get started with your path to a promotion or a pay rise by becoming a AWS Cloud Practitioner today!
